Spicy Chicken Pot @ Tai Wai

來來重慶雞煲火鍋菜館

Shop 15, G/F, Holford Garden Commercial Complex, Tai Wai

T has a bunch of friends in Hong Kong from his high school days, so as a nice little reunion his friends invited us out to Tai Wai to try this famous Spicy Chicken Hot Pot... which you can see how spicy it is because half-way through our meal we had to fish out all the hot peppers. The more you boil these peppers the spicier the soup becomes!

So with such a spicy meal there has to be beer! Oh boy, we sure drank a lot of Asahi that night, but mind you it really did help put out the fires in our mouths!

And this is how we ended our night!
Black Sesame Mochi Balls
Sweet Papaya and White Fungus Soup
Hot Tofu with Ginger Sugar

Cafe Deco @ The Peak

Let the pictures do all the talking...
So 9 of us went to wine and dine at Cafe Deco located at the Peak. I am glad that all of us were such big eaters because there was definitely a lot of food that night. Just think of each picture I took and times that by 9, and lets not forget that I didn't even take any pictures of the pastas that were served or the array of Gelatos we had! It was a night to remember. Amazing dishes and great company.

Big thanks to I's cousin and her beautiful friend.

Oysters (if I remember correctly, they're from France?)
and Cherrystone Clam

Foie Gras Cone, this was amazing the rice soaked up all
the sauce from the foie gras

There was a special name for these shrimps but I never did get the
English translation for it, the shrimp tails were served raw and then...

... the heads were later deep fried to a crisp, tasted like those shrimp cracker chip things

Assorted sashimi and xiao long bao filled with foie gras
and crab meat

Now onto the main courses! What we have here is grilled
tandoori lamb chops!

Grilled herb Sea Bass

Grilled medium-rare pork chop!

So this is my selection of desserts, a chocolate souffle,  pavlova,
and a chocolate and peanut butter cheesecake!

Toodles for now!

Vbest Tea House SOHO

Vbest Tea House
G/F 17 Elgin Street, SOHO, Central
Check them out @ openrice.com

We ordered stir fried Vermicelli and shrimp, Bok Choy with garlic, Ma-Po Tofu, and Tomato fried eggs.
Vbest is a ma & pa styled restaurant located in the ever bustling district of SOHO. The food is family style home cooking and this is the kind of food I really miss. I miss my mom's cooking and her array of soups. Vbest prides itself for using fresh ingredients and very little salt and no MSG. That means I don't have to down glasses of tea after my meal and then spend the next hour trying to find a clean washroom to use.

I think one of my favourite dishes from Vbest was their roast duck breast and their pumpkin soup! The thinly sliced duck breast was well flavoured and the meat was so tender too. The pumpkin soup was amazing I could probably drink several bowls if I didn't have to eat any of the other dishes.
