Yew at Four Seasons

Yew seafood + bar

I love Dine out Vancouver! It's a great excuse to hang out with friends and also a great way to spend the month of January since not much happens after new years. I've visited Yew a few times before for drinks, but never stayed for dinner, so it was pretty awesome when they seated us in a semi-private dining room! I should of totally brought my selfie stick!

First course was a composition of forest mushrooms - our server mentioned that some of the mushrooms are grown in BC. This was a delicious start! I loved all the different textures of the wild mushrooms the sweetness of the sauce paired really well with the earthiness of the mushrooms.

Second course I had their whole roasted quail with wild rice gnocchi - I also added a side of their organic spot pawns. The prawns were my favourite part of the meal! The quail was just a little under seasoned and the wild rice was a little bit chewier to my liking.

Dessert course was a pavlova with candied hazelnut and cinnamon crunch. I love pavlovas and this one was exceptional and the presentation reminds me of walking through a forest!

What really impressed me wasn't so much their food but their level of exceptional service from start to finish. Our server was very attentive and engaging and had wonderful timing! He would show up in perfect timed intervals to check on us without being overly intrusive and I never felt rushed to eat faster (because sometimes, restaurants have set time-limits for dine-out). Overall it was a very enjoyable dinner and a great way to end a Monday night.

I will be back again next week with a different group of friends,
so hopefully the experience will be the same if not better!

PappaRoti Canada

PappaRoti

1505 Robson St Vancouver, BC

It's been awhile folks! Sorry for not posting any foodie adventures. I just kind of lost the motivation and Vancouver is starting to run out of new restaurants for me to try. Also work has been quite hectic and a lot of new changes for the new year! I am quite excited about 2015, it's been an awesome start so far and I am looking forward to travelling more and hopefully be brave enough to start a Youtube channel (Yikes!) I've always wanted to do a cooking segment for my blog but have never gotten around to doing it, so I have now added this bit as one of my new year's resolutions!

Anyways I have discovered a favourite hangout that makes the best milk tea (Karak Milk Tea to be exact) ever! I love everything about PappaRoti from their friendly staff to their amazing baked buns, I wished they had one on South Granville, then I would be there all the time! This will probably be the place where I would go and edit my videos and enjoy a cup of their delicious Karak Milk Tea. I have made a note to put up more posts on my blog this year and its good timing because January 2015 is also Dine out Vancouver. So watch out for my reviews because I do have a line-up of restaurants to try!

Bye for now.
